Premium Wellness Screenings in Long Grove, ILPremium wellness screenings in Long Grove, IL

Caring for your vision requires a thorough screening from your optometrist. At Forsight Vision, we offer advanced vision testing to ensure that your eyes are healthy and that you get the proper treatment to address your specific needs.

Computer Assisted Visual Field Testing

Computer assisted visual field testing is a type of exam that evaluates your ability to see in all directions when your eyes are focused on a single point. At our office of optometry, our testing equipment evaluates the sensitivity of your peripheral vision and your ability to see clearly out of the corners of your eyes. Essentially, we use a visual field computer to map your responses to stimuli in the retina. Information from this test can help with diagnosis of glaucoma, macular degeneration, optic glioma, brain tumor, multiple sclerosis, stroke, central nervous system disorders among other diseases and conditions.

Digital Retinal Photography

The Eidon Confocal retinal camera uses high resolution imaging systems to take full color digital images of your retina. Digital retinal photography, or retinal imaging, is an advanced diagnostic procedure that allows us to see the retina of your eyes. It does not require dilating eye. Confocal imaging provides super high resolution and contrast, amazing detail, true-to-life color and a wider retinal view for unsurpassed image quality. By evaluating your retinal photos, our optometrists can more easily diagnose and monitor diseases like diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and glaucoma.

Macular Pigment Optical Density (MPOD)

Macular Pigment Optical Density (MPOD) is a measurement of of macular pigment. This pigment acts like “internal sunglasses” to protect eyes from harmful blue light. When you have a low level of pigment cells in your macula, it may result in higher risk for disease. By providing nutrients to help build up the pigment cells in the macula of your eyes, you reduce the risk of developing macular degeneration. Since macular degeneration is a primary cause of blindness, we strive to catch the condition early by using proper testing and ensuring that you protect your eyes with the right treatments.

OCT Retinal Scan

Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is a non-invasive test that uses light waves to take cross-section pictures of your retina, the light-sensitive tissue lining the back of the eye. Results are compared with a database of healthy eye measurements and can assist with diagnosis of degenerative conditions like glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic eye disease. This unique technology can help detect these vision-threatening, and systemic diseases in their very early stages, often before physical symptoms occur. Early intervention can preserve your vision and even slow the progression of some diseases.
